After Italian capitulation in WW2, German forces are rushing to take control of the Dalmatian coast, forcing thousands of people to take refuge. One partisan boat, filled with refugees, tries to reach a safe area, but because of a storm it must stop near a small island. While the crew tries to repair it, a German gunboat comes from nearby.
The television humorous series is based on the screenplay by renowned Croatian writer Mirko Bozic. In ten episodes, we look at the various ups and downs of socialist leaders, which authors use to talk about what really interests them, and that is the mentality of the people in the Sinj region in Croatia. Through the window of his old building, curious and idle Mr Piero "spies" the apartment across the street where lives Giovanni, an Italian soldier. Despite his wife's resentment and ridicule from the neighborhood, Piero cannot resist the temptation of dangerous surveillance. His curiosity is heated upon noticing that his neighbor returned from the war campaign in the hinterland with bloodied hands.

The German Keller family pays a visit to their Croatian friends who live in a small village on the banks of the Cetina river. Inspired by the stories told to them by their fathers about the history of the area being used as the filming ground for the cinematic adaptations of German author Karl May's seminal Winnetou series of western novels, the children decide to play Cowboys and Indians. However, what they don't know is that the canyon they've picked as their play area, serves as the hiding spot of three ruthless Serbian chetniks, who had recently escaped from the nearby prison.
'Malo Misto' lives its own life, but not far behind the times. Hotel manager Roko Prč strives to organise tourism, so he introduces the first nudist beach. His wife Anđa brings two of her cousins from the Dalmatian hinterland and demands Roko to hire them. One of them, a young man named Ikan, earns the attention of a beautiful Swedish tourist. From Chile to Malo Misto returned Tonči, nicknamed Servantes, of course, without any money. He fell on the back of his hardworking aunt Keka, who even without him has enough problems of her own. Servantes also experiences an unexpected romance.
