A newly-married woman and former prostitute whose husband, a ship's captain, has gone to sea, is pressured into returning to her old profession. When she refuses, she is violently gang-raped and left pregnant and despondent. She kills herself while attempting to abort the fetus but returns as a vengeful Sundel Bolong, a ghost with a putrid, rotting hole in her back. When the rapists and conspirers start turning up dead, her husband and the police try to put a stop to the violence, once and for all.
Thanks to the success of the film "Crisis", produced by Perfini, there is a tendency to make similar stories. There are no main characters in this film, except for the somewhat prominent ones, namely the patient teacher (A. Hamid Arief) and his talkative wife (Tina Melinda). It also depicts the lives of several families in a house like in "Crisis".

Tamin is one of the village boys who are ensnared by Japanese propaganda to enroll as Heiho (auxiliary soldiers). He joins the mission to Burma (Myanmar) during World War II in the Red Cross division. When the Japanese forces are defeated, Tamin and his friends are brought back to Java and handed over to the Dutch who are attempting to rule the country one more time. Tamin is forced to join the Dutch military (KNIL) to fight his fellow citizens. After Indonesia gains full sovereignty (1950), Tamin chooses to return to the village. But his heart remains uncertain as his friends accuse him of not participating in the struggle for Indonesia's independence. So Tamin goes to the city where he meets a fellow former Heiho, who is now in the Indonesian military force. His friend shows him that there are other ways to contribute to the national struggle. Then Tamin returns to his home, his village and his country.

But Rhoma’s mother sees through this disguise and throws her out of the house. Rhoma returns home after signing a contract for a show. He manages to convince his mother to accept her back. Then he searches everywhere for Camelia but he cannot find her. Sadly, Camelia has been tricked by Joice’s friends into being a prostitute. In the brothel, Camelia sees her stepmother. Rhoma reports Joice to Camelia’s father, who then informs the police. Joice is arrested and Camelia goes home with Rhoma’s mother.

Considered insane, he is admitted to a mental hospital. Here, he is always rowdy and stirs things up. Most of the film is used to exploit the craziness of the hospital. James finally escapes.
Lies, a 17-year-old student, is forced to marry Madun, an aging and wealthy man, as a way to repay her mother's debts. Her heart actually belongs to Jack, the son of a rich businessman from the same village, who now works in Jakarta. After giving up her rebellion, Lies finally agrees—with several conditions: the marriage must take place in the capital, and Madun has to comply with all her demands. Madun confidently agrees, clueless that Lies has already devised a cunning plan.
