Biography
Graduated in Film Direction at Darcy Ribeiro School, Douglas Soares is majoring in Art History at UERJ. Assistance made to directors like Nelson Pereira dos Santos and Allan Ribeiro. He is director of the short film "My Aunt, My Cousin," a documentary that won several awards and participated in 20 festivals in Brazil. Co-directed the award-winning "The Lady of the Peixoto" in 2011 (Habana Film Festival), in addition to being a producer and co-director of the film "In This Love That Consumes" (World Cinema Amsterdam), directed by Allan Ribeiro, screened in Brazilian and international festivals in the years of 2012 and 2013. His last film "Tales of the Tide" (Uppsala Internationella Kortfilmfestival | Bosphorus Film Festival), was chosen as Best Short Documentary and Best Original Score at the 46th Festival de Brasília do Cinema Brasileiro (2013). Besides director, is writer and editor on several short films.

Half a century ago, Brazilian composer and musician Antonio Carlos "Tom" Jobim (1927-1994) introduced bossa nova to a worldwide audience with "The Girl from Ipanema." This relaxed, cool, sensuous music blended jazz and samba. After recording an album of songs by his friend Jobim, Frank Sinatra is reported to have said, "I haven't sung so quietly since I had laryngitis." Naturally, "The Girl from Ipanema" and Frank Sinatra are featured in this musical collage of countless seamlessly edited excerpts of concert footage that cover decades of events all over the world: from Rio de Janeiro to Lisbon, Paris, Copenhagen, Jerusalem, Tokyo, Montreal, New York and back to Rio.
