Ilona Jonsson deceives the old industrialist Österberg. He takes pity on the poor girl, who looks like the doppelganger of his dead daughter. Also involved in the plot are Ilona's father, who was supposedly at sea but has just been released from prison, his accomplices Murto-Kalle and Ventti-Ville, a rival criminal gang, and the councilor's relatives, who are guarding their inheritance money.

Arvo Raitamo, a surgeon from Helsinki, is focused on his career. When the family's son dies in an accident, Arvo, broken with grief, flees to the wilderness of Lapland, where he collapses in the snow. Arvo is saved by the folk healer Aslak and his niece Maaret. Maaret falls in love with Arvo, but Arvo cannot escape his past for long.

Esko is going to a neighboring village to marry Kreeta after her father arranged the marriage with Esko's father. Esko takes Mikko as his travel companion and that's where Esko's ordeals begin.

Camera moves around the city of Turku. We also pay a visit to Naantali and Airistola.

Young Vesterinen gets to fulfill his musical dreams with the support of his friend Mirja. His passion for playing the accordion takes Vili from Viipuri to Helsinki, where his friendship with pianist Jaakko helps him advance his career.
