Kika, a cosmopolitan party girl, teaches Petra how to carry on with her life without a husband and a family. Over several cups of coffee and nights out we get to know their fears and problems, their solitude, insecurities and inner strength.

Maria lives with his son Darko in a Croatian village that is attacked by Serbian Chetniks one night. They manage to escape and hide in a nearby town, where Maria takes a job at the laundry and Darko joins the Croatian Defenders, leading to tragedy.

It deals with unexpected romance between a salesgirl and a police inspector.
