A deep forest in the middle of Europe, far from the civilized and urban world, is home to a peculiar community of missing persons. There is a diffuse system that still has complete control to ensure that this world remains hidden and does not become a nuisance. In the forest, the missing persons proclaim their own truth and tell the story of their exile.

The filmmaker Ascan Breuer searches for the spirit of a tiger said to have haunted the house of his ancestors on Java. This search combines an autobiographical narrative thread involving the history of the filmmaker's family and a historical narrative about migration that spans the globe.
