A brief look at the traditional Bexiga, am important neighborhood in the early 20th century with the massive arrival of Italian immigrants who felt at home while developing their businesses and generating a great economy to SĂŁo Paulo. But in the second half of the century the families of means left the place; others were evicted due to a government crisis...and then with plenty of empty houses and spaces Bexiga became a spot for home invasions from poor families who were living under the streets.
A 10-minute portrait of modernist poet and de Andrade’s godfather, Manuel Bandeira, is clear in its affection for it subject, though like many New-Waveish films of the time, depicts the modern urban landscape as an ominous and alienating force.
