Os Trapalhões was a Brazilian comedy group and also a Brazilian television series created by Wilton Franco. Its members were Dedé Santana, Zacarias, Mussum and their leader Didi Mocó, that was played by Renato Aragão. The name Trapalhões is derived from the Portuguese verb atrapalhar, which means the opposite of helping, to do something the wrong way or to Those that confuse. The name is translated "Tramps" in English DVD subtitles. It was aired by Rede Globo from 1977 to 1999. On March 18, 1990, Zacarias died due to respiratory failure, but the group and the series didn't come to an end until July 29, 1994, when Mussum died due to an unsuccessful heart transplant.

The story follows the lives of Naná and Gegê, a pair of con artists. Gegê is the uncle of Tina Pepper, a Tina Turner fan who dreams of becoming a famous singer.

The plot tells the story of Celestina, an angel responsible for Brazil. When threatened by God with being sent to the country she was supposed to help grow, she despairs and seeks out her friend, the angel Gabriel. To help Celestina, Gabriel asks the Almighty to let her stay in heaven for another six months. God, however, imposes a condition: Celestina must make a Brazilian citizen more honest, dignified, and compassionate, without disrespecting the free will that every human being should have. To fulfill her mission, Celestina chooses the swindler Maria Escandalosa, a charismatic, beautiful, and kind-hearted young woman, daughter of the equally swindler Tomás Euclides. Convinced that she will transform the girl's character, Celestina disobeys divine laws and saves her from an explosion, then begins to watch over the young woman's life on Earth.

Romantic and dreamy, Eliana works at a five-star hotel and becomes involved with unrequited love, a bumbling gang, and a complex police story.

In Buenos Aires, Frederico hides in a ship going to Rio de Janeiro to travel for free. But Azulão, the cook, finds him and blackmails him into working in the kitchen. Meanwhile, Alberto, the captain, receives a radio message saying that there was a dangerous international spy on board. Things get worse when some passports are mixed-up.

A gang, leaded by the unknown and mysterious Anjo, robs a jewelry and schedules a meeting in the Copacabana Palace Hotel, in Copacabana. The identification would be through a cigarette case with an angel, and the password "- Is everything all right?" Meanwhile, the director Ricardo is preparing a show for the carnival in the hotel with Marina, and they love each other. The janitor Serafim receives a letter from his unknown American brother, who will come to Rio to spend the carnival and meet him, and asks Eliana for a chance in the show, since his brother believes he is an artist. When Ricardo finds the cigarette case lost by Anjo in the entrance of the hotel, he is misidentified by the thieves, and this is the beginning of lots of confusion and fun.

A lady, owner of a large area of land where it is believed there are several oil wells, is almost fooled by the president of a pseudo petroleum company into giving up her property for nothing, but is saved by his son's noble intervention.

A precious necklace is stolen during a convention at Quitandinha Palace, a hotel in which a wives conference is deciding whether or not unfaithful husbands should receive the death penalty.
