Peter and Paul are old friends who happen to meet again. Both are dentists and both want to get married the next day.

Young Count Georg Wolkersheim is sent to the Congress of Vienna to represent the interests of his country, Reuss-Schleiz-Greiz. Tensions arise between the count, his wife Melanie, and their two chamberlains, and when the four attend a court ball, Melanie leaves Georg, assumes the identity of a famous actress, and attracts the affections of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria.

The young Eva Heldmann has inherited a publishing house, which she is running in an exemplary fashion. However, she still has a co-heir, Stefan Gudewill, who is considered a good-for-nothing and who has been missing since he was 18 years old. With the help of a detective, Eva locates Stefan in a small town and goes to pay him off so she can run the publishing house alone. When she finally meets Stefan and gets to know him, she is convinced that he really is a good-for-nothing. But due to his rather swashbuckling style, she falls in love with him against her will. The two come together, but then split after a misunderstanding. Eva leaves, convinced she will never see him again. Yet one day, a new employee from the shipping department comes to her and Eva recognizes that it is Stefan, who wants to work his way up from the bottom to become a worthy partner.

A small, mountain town. The populace here has long lived off the artisanal production of axes. But due to a glut of cheap, factory goods, the business magnate Brugger is no longer able to sell his axes and he dies before a complete economic collapse. His daughter Anna wants to marry Thomas Volderauer, a friend of her father's, who wishes to once more bring work to the town by moving his metal working factory there. Thus Franz, the son of old Atzinger, has no chance with Anna; especially as his father implores Anna to marry Volderauer. Embittered, Franz leaves the town. In order to earn money, Franz ends up as a tourguide for wealthy tourists and notices that their ice picks aren't good for anything, except maybe cutting ice for their fancy cocktails. He realizes that the manufacture of high quality ice picks, for example, could be good business for his town. He therefore returns there and organizes resistance to the demolition of the town forge.

Against the wishes of his adoptive father, Stefan Burgstaller decides to become a musician. He goes to Salzburg, where his girlfriend Veronika is already attending the conservatory. Stefan is also accepted at the school and even receives a scholarship because of his extraordinary talent. This paves the way for a carefree student life, which Stefan enjoys to the fullest. The fun-loving guy is popular everywhere, but he seems to be particularly fond of the slightly older waitress Anna, who works in the musicians' bar "Zur Bassgeige"...

An inventor, Bubi, creates a female android he calls "Wera." Unfortunately, a gang of robbers finds out about Wera, steals her, and uses her to commit a series of crimes in Prague. (io9.com)
