Georg Jacoby’s Jokeren is a light-hearted entertainment picture set during the carnival in Nice, a romantic comedy with a touch of melodrama. A young artist, fatally injured in a car accident, foolishly entrusts a batch of compromising love letters to Borwick, a crooked and unscrupulous lawyer, instructing him to destroy them. Instead, Borwick proceeds to blackmail the woman who sent the letters, Lady Cecilie Powder, married to the straight-arrow Sir Herbert Powder. Lady Cecilie gets help from her spunky younger sister Gill. In turn, she draws in Peter Carstairs, a debonair adventurer known to all as “the Joker” – the card that trumps all others. When the Joker repeatedly foils Borwick’s schemes, the crooked lawyer ups the ante, trying to incriminate his adversary Carstairs and expanding his demands to include marriage to Gill. But as the characters converge at yet another lavish carnival celebration party, it becomes clear that one card does indeed trump all the others: the Joker!

Søren Holm becomes a pastor in the small town of Harslev. The parish council chairwoman, Mrs. Andersen, interferes in the pastor's family's private life, and when Søren plays in a soccer game to get to know the town's young men, Mrs. Andersen becomes furious. Half of the parish turns its back on Søren. But Søren does good work for the young people, and gradually, with the help of the parish clerk, he is accepted by both the parish council and the town's youth.

The story is about a student named Peder Pedersen, who has tried to pass his law degree exam the max number of times without success. He hasn't been able to make anything concrete out of his 7-year engagement to a young lady either, because he's way too into anything detective-related. In all other areas, he is extremely distracted.

A happy-go-lucky husband has a wife bitten with social aspirations and this leads to several social mishaps.

General Consul Kristina Holm has a good relationship with her three grandchildren because they really like her, but also for the annual "traditional" financial contribution they receive.

The orphaned Eva flees from her harsh foster mother, who wants to marry her off to the suitor Berg. By pure chance, she ends up with the barber Kummersen, who has his own struggles to deal with: A Bolshevik apprentice with a large, dripping nose, an old intrusive housekeeper, and above all, a missing hundred kroner note for the rent. Nevertheless, he takes pity on Eva and accepts her as an apprentice, since the previous one had left in fury. To avoid upsetting the old housekeeper, Eva must disguise herself as a boy, and from here the story takes many unexpected twists and turns. (Stumfilm.dk)

The prince of a small state amuses himself by temporarily switching roles with a cobbler, partly to avoid a visit from a princess, to whom his minister wants to marry him off. In his new role as prince, the cobbler causes one scandal after another.
