Ludvig Brandstrup is a radio announcer and performs with great experience in front of the microphone. But the director is not exactly taking care of his duties; he has forgotten to inform the artists who will assist with the broadcast. This forgetfulness is a very serious blunder. On top of that, an award-winning radio play, "Where is Jensen?", is to be broadcast, and now the actors are missing. Brandstrup is desperate and distraught, until he gets the bright idea to play all the roles himself.

On a dark and rainy evening after the cinema, a small two-seater car drives through the old streets of Copenhagen. It is the young doctor Preben Hansen driving his sweetheart home. She is a nanny and works at a daycare centre in the inner city. She is a sweet and lively girl whom her friends call "Peter." In the doorway, "Peter" encounters a drunk man who will later become important in her life. When the daycare center is about to close, the drunk man may step in with a financial helping hand.

There is great confusion in the director's home. The confusion overwhelms the couple when the young housekeeper turns out to be the director's daughter and the older one her mother. It can only go wrong, and it gives reason to send an excited and upset Olga Svendsen onto the field.
