Oleg Nikolayevsky

Fitil is a popular Soviet/Russian television satirical/comedy short film series which ran for about 500 episodes. Some of the episodes were aimed at children, and were called Фитилёк, Fitilyok, Little Fuse. Each issue contained from the few short segments: documentary, fictional and animated ones. Directed by various artists, including Leonid Gaidai who presented his famous trio of Nikulin, Vitsin and Morgunov into the cast. It was called in USSR as "the anecdotes from the Soviet government".

In the Siberian wilderness, on one of the car depots, bad stories occur. It all starts with theft, and leads to murder. And neither the police nor the leadership of the base can put things in order. Moreover, the main character, Alexei, seems that he is completely alone in search of the truth.

Once upon a time, miles and miles away, there was an old man with an old woman. They spent with each other a long time but had no children. One day an old man made a dolly of dough, put her on the oven, and suddenly a baby was born out of a dolly, and he wasnt a simple child, because he grew before their eyes, ate like seven, until he grew into a huge and strong guy. There was the thing that grieved old men, that he had no heart, after all, he was made of dough. Once he met a neighboring beauty girl, paid compliments to her, fooling around, she thought he had fallen in love, and didnt know at that time that he had no heart, and fell in love with the hercules. Summer 1947. The World War II has just died down. Unexpectedly and incognito a stranger shows up in a small village in Transcarpathia, situated near the very frontier. For some purpose he gets into a well in an oldmans Atanas yard, and when Atanas comes out, it turns out that he is not a stranger, he is Bogdan Susik (Ye.Vesnik), a former butler of a local count. He tries to understand why a former butler got into a well, and reveals a terrible secret to Atanas, on the honor to keep silence and assist him in everything. The fact is that when in 1944 the counter escaped overseas, Susik helped him to hide a chest. He is sure that the counters riches were hidden inside of the chest, and that the map with the chest location was put in the well. Now they have to find it

In the center of the TV film is the image of the veteran of the Great Patriotic War, an old trackman Prokhor Timofeyevich. A chance meeting with a little boy Prosha brings joy into the life of the protagonist, who lost his wife and daughter during the war years.

A middle-aged woman Ksenia (N. Yegorova) has a usual regular life: routine work in typography, home without husband, whom she has long divorced, 17-year old daughter with teenage problems, a friend, trying to give her in marriage. In short, nothing special. Though sometimes she sings in a local chorus for the good of her soul. But once a head of municipal folklore consort drops in, and they get into conversation, and he invites her to the run-through. She comes, tries her forces with the others, but for some reason she is not let to the concerts She gets acquainted with a nimble administrator, who gathers a concert group and proposes to go on tour. She agrees and changes her life dramatically.

Sergey Savinov, a yesterday's schoolboy, who failed at his entry exams, is at the crossroads. Where to go to work? After working as a stand-by in a local recreation-and-entertainment park, he tries himself as a proof-reader in typography, a laboratory assistant in a plant and exhausts all his stock of photos for passes. To replenish it, he heads for a nearest photo saloon, and makes a conclusion, that his calling, which he long considered as a hobby, is photography. A work which brings so much happiness both to him and to other people.

Sergei Dolganov is a jack of all trades, a man of great soul and open heart. He wanders around weighing cities in search of happiness, and in all the cities where he visits, he builds fountains not for extra money, but only for beauty, in order to bring joy to himself and people. One day, fate brings him to the steppe state farm, where he meets a wonderful girl. Sergei understands that she is the one and only. But only the girl already has a gentleman, and in order to win her love, Sergei needs to try very hard.

The 22nd of June, 1941. A usual morning in a usual children camp near the very frontier. Children are splashing in a river, and take the landing troops, coming down from the sky, with enthusiasm, thinking that this is a military training. But these are fascists. They drive all children together in a camp, fence them in a barblock and announce that all of them will soon be sent to Germany. The Soviet tank battalion, located nearby, makes an attempt to save the children, but is defeated. Only one tank driven by uncle Vasia survived. Accidentally the survived tankman meets Michael, a boy who was ordered by Germans to burn pioneer neckties. He asks uncle Vasia to help him rescue children from captivity. The tankman agrees. The rescue of young pioneers operation starts on the only one tank with one little assistant.
