Imagine Michael Jordan and a bunch of his teammates dropping by your local basketball court and asking if they can play a little three-on-three. For skateboarders, that's pretty much what happened during Tony Hawk's Secret Skatepark Tour: Tony and several of his best friends showed up unannounced at skateparks throughout the west and sessioned alongside whoever happened to be there.

The fourth edition of the Terrafirma series was filmed around the world throughout 1997 and released in 1998. Terrafirma 4’s riding offering stretches far and wide, from silky smooth sessions in the hills of California with Jeremy McGrath & Kevin Windham, mind-bending off-road “sends” in the Canadian wilderness with Guy Perrett, freeriding in Chile with Edgar Torronteras & Andy Bowyer and everything else in between. The series really started to expand into different types of riding in this installment and also includes Trials competition in Donner Pass, California, Hill Climb racing in Billings Montana, and the freeride cross-over of big mountain snowboard legend, Mike “Tex” Devenport. A little bit of everything here!

It isn’t that strange, that no two surfers have the same exact approach to a wave. It is an extension of character and everyone is different. In the making of Separate Volume, the intention was to show how each member of the team is unique. A lot of our surfers have never been spotlighted or even seen outside of a magazine, so this was their chance to shine. The movie also delves deeper into surfers that you have seen hundreds of times but still know nothing about. Nathan Fletcher has voices in his head that make him travel the globe and surf to a different tune. In typical Hawaiian style, Dustin Barca had to fight for everyone’s respect and it is undeniable in his surfing. You will see Brent Dorrington, who at 17 has that natural surfing style that echoes a young Tom Curren. Chris Ward’s unbridled power and mix of wild abandon produces spontaneity in every aspect of his surfing and his life.
