After a failed conquest, Emperor Ajaatshatru pretends to be a soldier in the enemy's army to weaken them from the inside. However, he falls in love with Amrapali, a well-respected royal courtesan, and must decide what his main priority is.

Sanjay and Priya are in love and are planning to marry. When Priya learns that her father has been arrested, they decide to postpone their wedding. However, destiny has other plans as Sanjay dies in a car crash. In heaven, he learns that his death was a mistake, and he is sent back to Earth in the body of his lookalike, the wealthy but morally corrupt Tarun Kumar Saxena, the man who ruined Priya's family.

The film is soliloquy of a man who comes home to find that his wife and son are not at home, he assumes that they have left him and reminiscences his life with them, and scared of his life without them, he regrets his past indiscretions. The suspense is only revealed in the end.

A race car driver gets into trouble when he falls in love with the lovely but troubled jewel thief, Meena. He is convinced that her crime connections will not hamper his happily ever after plans.

Classmates Laaj (Waheeda Rehman) and Shyam elope to Bombay with Laaj's necklace, which they hope to pawn to pay for their travels. On the train, a crafty journalist named Pran (Dev Anand) overhears the lovers' plan and follows them in search of a story. When Shyam snatches the necklace and runs off, it's Pran to the rescue. What follows is a song-filled caper of intrigue, adventure and romance.
