A village comes alive with fear when a nefarious ‘oily man’ terrorises women in the dead of night. Orang Minyak was digitally restored by the Asian Film Archive in 2018 using a 16mm black & white composite release print from its collection.

Tengku Iskandar helps to run his father's business in Singapore and is known among his friends as Ariffin. He is a hardworking and passionate young man who helps his friends in distress. He is also on good terms with Marhani who works as a nurse in a hospital in Johor Bahru. When Ariffin is assigned by his father to travel to Jakarta to manage their business there, he takes the opportunity to confess his love towards Marhani and makes a vow to return to affirm their marriage. Unfortunately, the Jakarta-bound airplane Ariffin boards crashes. No survivors are reported. Marhaini is devastated by the news and decides to take a break from work at the hospital. Ariffin's father too falls ill after hearing the tragedy. Marhani's younger sister, who is also a nurse, is employed to take care of Ariffin (Tengku Iskandar)’s father and young siblings Tengku Shah and Tengku Ngah. But the junior tengku-tengku are too much to handle for Marhani’s sister.

Manis and her fisherman father receive a guest named Suleiman at their humble kampung house. He is well-liked by them both and becomes a frequent visitor who helps out with the daily chores. Unbeknownst to Manis, the young man is in fact a prince-in-disguise. So a romance between a royal and a commoner blossoms, as the couple exchange teasing pantuns at the next opportunity - while gathering wood, or while tidying up the rumah ibu. All is bliss when Manis agrees to marry Suleiman in secret even after finding out his true identity. Separation of the loving pair beckons when the prince receives news from the palace and returns to his ailing father, who at his death bed agrees to a royal intermarriage between his son and a princess from a neighbouring monarchy. A family reconciliation and cursed tragedy ensue.

Dang Anom, the beautiful daughter of Sang Rajuna Tapa, is engaged to Panglima Malang. Having fallen for Dang Anom, the Sultan makes her his concubine against her wish. Panglima Malang is helpless but manages to sneak into the palace for a secret meeting with Dang Anom. Unfortunately, they are caught and the Sultan sentences the lovers to be killed in a cruel manner. In order to save his daughter, Sang Rajuna Tapa opens the gate of the fort and lets the army of the Majapahit into the sultanate.

Produced by Cathay-Keris, this omnibus of three stories (with different directors) was adapted from mystery tales featuring Detective Inspector Latiff (S. Roomai Noor), a character created Pelham Groom, a former British officer and genre writer who settled in Singapore. Latiff’s ‘Watson’ is a female Chinese forensic doctor (Mary Lim), and the first story 'Mud on Her Shoes' hinges on the romance between an English expat and a Malay woman. The second story is the titular 'Hantu Rimau'. The third tale ’Double Knock Out’, heralded as the first depiction of a local boxing match, was shot in Happy World (later renamed Gay World), one of the night-life amusement parks known as the ‘Worlds’. Tells the story of two warriors, Mahfuz and Mahadi who survived when their ship was attacked by pirates. They are both stranded on a beach and later meet a fortune teller. The fortune teller told them that Mahfuz would be a powerful man in the state. Mahadi, on the other hand, will have descendants who will be from the royal family from time to time even though he is just an ordinary citizen.

Normah is married to a workaholic painter who is more intent on making money out of his art than showing concern and affect for her. Karim (Abdullah Chik) and Khatijah (Rose Yatimah) are undergraduates at the University of Malaya pursuing degrees in Medicine and History respectively. They are young, progressive in their thinking, and very much in love with each other. On a visit back home, Khatijah discovers that she is arranged to be married, without her knowledge, to the local village 'lebai' (healer), Din, who is a recent widower and father of six. Khatijah is torn between her fledging love for Karim and her adherence to centuries of tradition. Determined to win the hand of Khatijah, Karim sets aside his prejudiced view of the "mystical arts" and travels deep into the wilderness of Malaysia to study under a respected traditional healer, Pak Salleh (Dollah Sarawak).

Che Mamat is always unfortunate. Most of the things that he does goes wrong which makes him wasting most of his time telling stories to kids. Due to his lover pressure he agrees to enter a short story competition. His winning over this competition changed his lifestyle very drastically when he was being offered a position as a reporter at a national newspaper.
