The two-episode television drama tells the story of a family willing to do anything to maintain possession of their assets, even two brutal murders that will have to wait more than ten years to reach a solution.

With a screenplay by Liliana Cavani, this film is based on a true story, events that happened in Alabama in 1965. A daughter of Italian immigrants, Liuzzo participated in the march led by Martin Luther King. As she returned home, she was accosted and murdered by four members of the Ku Klux Klan.

The love affair between Andrea, laborer from the italian northern area called Bassa Lombarda and apulian single mother, Rosaria, is grafted on the background of the inconveniences of poor commuters who must go to work in Milan by train.
