The series is set in Zapieck, a fictional town near Łeba. This is where twins Jacek and Placek are born. As the boys grow up, they cause trouble for their mother, the mayor, and other residents of their hometown. Soon after, they run away from the town in search of a land of lazy people. On the way, they decide to steal the moon.

Grimes, an amoral chimney sweep, occasionally likes to steal valuables from his clients. One day, on the verge of being caught, he frames his young apprentice, Tom, for the crime. Tom runs away and jumps into a river where, instead of drowning, he finds himself transformed into a mystical aquatic creature. Swimming and breathing effortlessly, he discovers a colorful underwater world replete with creatures both cruel and kind.

On the planet Transformation, the cruel Prince Saligia steals people’s dreams and turns them into advertisements. When the fame of Tytus reaches him, Saligia lures Tytus and his old friends A’Tomek and Romek to his world, where the friends are captured by the prince’s soldiers and only Tytus’s wits stand between them and despair.

During his underwater journey, he meets many fish that resemble people he knows. The fish world and the human world turn out to be surprisingly similar. The film's charm lies in its sense of observation, fantasy, and humor, making it as much fun as it is a reflection on human nature.
