A person with amnesia writes down his memories in an attempt to reconstruct his life history.

Former criminal investigator, Major Korenev, nicknamed Fox is released from prison. He has been detained there as a result of planted incriminating evidence of unlawful investigation techniques. Setting accounts with Shaman - a big criminal boss, who ordered the evidence planted and also with his former colleagues was not a part of Korenev's agenda. As he returns to Moscow he finds a new world ruled by underworld bosses, criminal clans fighting each other and utter chaos on the desperately keeping appearances streets of Russian capital. Facing death of his friends, Major Korenev decides to re-install law and order using some unorthodox methods that are only relevant in 21st century Russia.

Leningrad, 1965. KGB Lieutenant Colonel Mikhail Shirokov is informed that his long—time enemy Alexander Stroganov, nicknamed Graf, a former punisher and saboteur who worked for German intelligence during the war, has been spotted in Leningrad. Shirokov checks all the Stroganovs currently living in Leningrad, suspicion falls on the projectionist. Indeed, he and his wife, Laura, were abandoned in the USSR by American intelligence. Their goal is to kidnap a major nuclear physicist and take him abroad. Shirokov and his task force are on the trail.

This movie is about the life of Marat Ayumov, a former soldier from Kazakhstan who fought in Afghaninstan. The past and present are interwoven in the memories of the protagonist. Throughout the film, in fragmented flashbacks, the hero recollects the time when he, as a soldier, fought in the armed conflict in the mountainous country as he travels to Afghanistan to accompany a young and creative TV crew making a documentary called “Following Alexander the Great”.

The adult hero of the picture - the captain of the voyage - was captured by the African natives. At home, in a seaside town, he still had a pregnant wife. The boy was born without a father, and raised him in the belief that dad heroically died. And now, after nine years, he returns ... the leader of the African tribe. Father and son meet each other throughout history, and eventually find a common language.
