Life is a Circus

Viggo Larsen’s adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's famous fairy tale about the soldier who gets hold of a magic tinderbox capable of calling forth three dogs with big eyes that can fulfill all his wishes. When the soldier has one of the dogs transport a sleeping princess to his room, he is arrested and sentenced to death. But his adventure, as we know, does not end here.
The Tinderbox

Two lively and famous Petersens, namely Robert Storm and Hans W., play prominent roles in this little comedy about a morally vigilant pharmacist, his somewhat more cheerful son, his crush on the pharmacy’s new cashier, Miss Hansen, and the equally enthusiastic two Petersens. Joy of life and free spirit clash with virtue and double standards in Copenhagen's nightlife, and the film’s programme is inscribed with the proclamation: ’The morality you display is not always the best!’ (Stumfilm.dk).
A Night in Copenhagen

The scene is set on a castle in the mid-18th century. The princess loves a young man from the court, but the king wants her married to an older, wealthier suitor. Hoping for a miracle to happen, the princess refuses his marriage proposal. (Stumfilm.dk)
The Rose
A courtly drama of a bridegroom arrested for being intimate with the queen. To secure his release, his future bride sleeps with his rival. The film is incomplete. Missing is the ending, where the bride obtains a forged letter of passage and murders the rival, but then has to watch as her betrothed is executed after the letter is found to be forged. The film includes a single rare hand-coloured scene. FRAGMENT. (stumfilm.dk)
La Tosca
The Princess of Illyria rejects all suitors, but suddenly begins to take an interest in a wandering pauper roaming the vicinity of the royal castle. It is none other than the Prince of Denmark and his friend, Kasper Røghat. By means of a magic toy, rattle and copper kettle, the disguised prince manages to secure himself a kiss and a night in the princess’s chamber. Kasper Røghat makes sure that the king is informed of the ‘affair’, causing the princess to be thrown out of the kingdom. She accordingly has to set out for Denmark, heading for a life as the wife of a pauper. Will this fairy tale have a happy end? (stumfilm.dk)
Once Upon a Time

A scientist has invented a serum that transforms the old into young and the old into new. His first subject – a very old man – gets a single injection and gradually turns into a baby. Meanwhile, three little men have stolen the syringe with the rejuvenation treatment, which they now give to men and livestock in dire need of it. (stumfilm.dk)
The Rejuvenation Treatment

We are in a big city in a country that differs from our own in many ways, among other things in that the people there are so noble and good that the police have no business at all. There are no criminals. The prisons are empty. The poor young man Felix is trying to get behind bars because he knows that he will then have access to the lovely Christmas geese.
Fange nr. 1

A strangely surreal short animated film by the beloved multi-talented artist Storm P. The film begins with live-action footage of Storm P. standing in front of a canvas where his familiar characters, the Three Little Men, come to life and walk out of a door in the picture. What follows is an animated sequence with a somewhat fragmented narrative. In the first part, a very corpulent gentleman peers hungrily through a keyhole and sees a woman feasting at a well-laid table. The middle section tells the story of a man clashing with a gendarme. In the final scene, we are in the living room of an angry woman waiting for her husband to come home. In true Storm P. style, the laws of physics are broken freely: characters can dematerialise and crawl through keyholes, be kicked all the way across town and tie their limbs up in knots. (Stumfilm. dk)
The Gardarme
A man is seen by a hen, which is sitting on a nest. The three little men enter, the hen eats one of the men's hats and drinks iron potion. The man takes the egg with him, tries to warm it up, a blacksmith hits it with a hammer and a scientist examines the egg, but none of them succeed in breaking the egg. The egg is thrown out of the window and a road worker tries to hammer the egg - without success. The man sees a cannon, the egg is shot out of the cannon and lands by the three little men. The egg breaks open and a hat comes out. Stumfilm.dk

Two small films advertising the Copenhagen-based department store Magasin du Nord. The first presents a fashion show comprising what are presumably dresses from the store’s Model Salon. The second is a short film featuring Peter and Ping, two well-known characters created by cartoonist Storm P., visiting various departments in the store. (Stumfilm.dk)
Peter and Ping in the Department Store

Storm P. is seen putting the finishing touches on a painting of his iconic ‘Three Little Men’ characters. The men come alive and exit through a door on the left side of the painting. (Stumfilm.dk)
Storm P Draws the Three Little Men

A short, fragmentary film comprising a brief animation sequence and live-action footage of Storm P in the Zoo. If one were to piece together a synopsis, it seems as if Storm P is given the task – by secret order – to draw the penguins in the Zoo. Using real penguins as models, he draws his well-known cartoon character Ping from the ‘Peter and Ping’, and the drawing is subsequently delivered to the person who commissioned it via a messenger dog. By Secret Order
A tramp steals a duck, stuffs it under his shirt – so only its wings are sticking out – and lets himself be flown around, over the fields and forests. He lands at the home of an artist whose paintings come to life. (stumfilm.dk)
