Sreenath

Mathilukal ('Walls') is a free adaptation of the novelette of the same name, written by the celebrated Malayalam writer, Vaikom Muhammad Basheer. Autobiographical in character, it is set against the background of India’s freedom struggle in the ’40s when he was serving a term of imprisonment in the Trivandrum Central Jail. When the film opens, we see Basheer in a police lock-up, quite at home in the company of a few petty criminals. He has been languishing there for more than a year now without a trial.

Jayakrishnan falls in love with two girls, Radha (a villager) and Clara (a sex-worker), and fights his confusion about whom he should marry and spend his life with.

Some interesting comment initially on Brahmin priesthood in Kerala, but halfway through the film goes haywire.

When Balram nabs a cache of arms and ammunition, his investigations lead him to a criminal leader, Tharadas. However, it is not easy for Balram to catch Tharadas until he involves his girlfriend.

Alex, who is awaiting execution, confesses to having committed six out of the seven murders he is acquitted for. Officer Sethurama Iyer decides to trace the original murderer of the seventh one.

They demand the release of their old colleagues languishing in prison in exchange for safe release of the politicians. An ex-cop is hired to free the officials from the group of terrorists.

Balakrishnan, a bank employee, tries all possible ways to earn money to buy his family house. He puts himself in trouble when he stays for free in a haunted house to make money.
