The film follows a character known as The Cinematographer, who is looking for someone called Atieh (Future). As he calls out to her, he is magically transported back in time from the early twentieth century to the reign of Naser al-Din Shah in 19th century Iran. Captured by the Shah's guards, he shows films from the history of Iranian cinema to the Shah. The Shah is entranced and eagerly shows his family the apparently magical medium.

This film, based on a well-known novel of the same name by Sadegh Chooback, is about a wronged man seeking revenge. Director Amir Naderi's inspiration for making the film was one of his childhood heroes, the legendary Zar Mohammad, who waged a one-man war against four swindlers and provoked wide spread popular sentiment against tyranny.

Dash Akol is greatly respected in Shiraz as an honorable man who has lost his family's money through helping his friends. He has an enemy, however, named Kaka Rostam, a mean and spiteful person. Dash Akol, who is in his forties, falls in love with Marjan, daughter of the late Haji Samad, for whose estate he is the executor. But he keeps his love secret. One day a suitor asks for Marjan's hand, and Dash Akol considers it against his code of honor to refuse. On the night of the wedding, Dash Akol hands over responsibility for the family to the bridegroom. As he is leaving the house, however, Kaka Rostam is waiting for him and a fight ensues. Kaka Rostam stabs him in the back, but Dash Akol succeeds in killing him. On his deathbed, Dash Akol sends his parrot to Marjan with the confession of love he has taught it.

Two gangster squads who smuggle antiques fight each other in Zahedan. The first squad's members manage to kill the members of the other squad. Two villains of them rape a woman Leila who is the wife of a man his name Baluch and escape to Tehran. He pursues them and shots them. While thinking that he had killed them, he surrender to the police and imprisoned for 12 years. When released from the prison he finds that they are not dead. He goes after them and kills both of them.

Abbas, known as "Abbas Chakhan," is a driver’s apprentice who is alone and has a stutter, constantly weaving tall tales. One night, he accidentally meets Banafsheh, who has ended up in a notorious neighborhood in search of her dreams, yet she is still determined to free herself from that place and have a home of her own. Abbas promises Banafsheh that he will help her. After she learns that Abbas has been imprisoned due to a small debt, she borrows money from a loan shark named Mohammad, known as "Mohammad the Dagger," to free Abbas.

A World Full of Hope

Between the years 1941-51, many immigrants went to the south of Iran to work for the oil companies there. A couple, Tal'at and Karamat also go there in hope of a better life. But Tal'at, who is pregnant, catches leperosy and they have to remain outside the city. The husband makes a tea-house and they stay there. An immigrant girl Manzar who had lost her parents, come to the tea-house and lives by them too.

Prince Ehtejab, one of the last remaining heirs of the Qajar royal family, is suffering from tuberculosis, which he knows is fatal. He spends his last days alone in the magnificent rooms of his wintry palace, from where he recollects the glory days of his ancestors as well as days of degradation. Among the latter are the gruesome manner in which his cruel grandfather murdered his mother and brother, and the way that he himself caused the death of his wife.

Norooz's family convince him to sell the old house in order to build a new modern house, but building of the apartment takes long and he runs out of money. Norooz continues the building by himself but strange things happen that drive him crazy.
