Unable to make a career for himself as an Olympic runner or bike rider, Hector Heathcote joins up with a railroad company to help make the connections for America's first transcontinental railroad. His efforts are hampered by a trouble making bull. But in the end, Hector and the train engineer finally get the transcontinental railroad built and open for business.
The boys' credit has run out at the general store, and they are hungry. A tourist arrives asking for a guide to Mount Piney. He explains that there is a $100 prize for the first person to climb the mountain. The gang tries to beat the tourist to the top of Mount Piney by any means.
In this Cinemascope Terrytoon, Spoofy is a zany little fox that comes to life on the animator's drawing board and subdues a western gunslinger with trick props and gadgets.

The boys wake Deputy Dawg up: the tool shed's on fire. It burns before they can put it out. Then the city hall burns, too. The Sheriff warns Deputy: Form a new fire department made up of volunteers, or you will be out of a job.
George Washington wants to cross the Delaware, but he has no boats. Hector's in the business of renting boats, but they all seem to have problems.
Sidney the elephant is looking for a mother, even though he's 44. The hippo and giraffe turn him down.
The Chief sends James Hound to investigate the apartment complex the villain Professor Mad has open to the public for free. James gets a room and finds nothing suspicious until he discovers that the apartment was really a rocket in disguise, intending to kidnap everyone in the building and enslave them for an outer space amusement park. James eventually defeats the villain and safely lands the apartment in a middle of an airport runway. The Chief congratulates Agent Hound for a successful mission and gives him the apartment as a reward. Unfortunately, James has trouble sleeping due to the noisy airplanes taking off by his window.

Heckel and Jeckle decide it is too much trouble and time-consuming, not to mention wear-and-tear on their wings, to fly south for the winter, so they will pose as orphans and find some kindly old grandmother to take care of them when the snow flies. They do. But the kindly old grandmother turns out to be a disguised-wolf who has an appetite for magpie soup. This is not at all what they had in mind.
Hector is operating a rolling store in Indian territory. He ends up having to smoke a peace pipe in order to save his scalp.
