Graduation in an ordinary high school turns into a tragedy when, under strange circumstances, an eleventh-grader Katya Chunina dies. Shortly before that, her boyfriend Maxim Volkov goes missing. He was last seen in the morning at the hospital, from which he escaped by walking out of the window and remained unharmed. It seems that all these events are connected.

Based on the account by Vasiliy Koroteev this is the story of Panifilov's Twenty-Eight, a group of twenty-eight Red Army soldiers commanded by General Ivan Panfilov, that stopped the advance on Moscow of a column of fifty-four Nazi tanks of the 11th Panzer Division for several days. Though lightly armed they fight tirelessly and defiantly, with uncommon bravery and unwavering dedication, to protect Moscow and their Motherland.

The action takes place in the Leningrad Region on the territory of a naval camp located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, where young men from all over the country came to take entrance exams and undergo a young fighter course to fulfill their dream of becoming naval sailors. You can even learn magic yourself, and then your life will become like a dream: sometimes scary, sometimes intoxicating, then completely unlike anything else. But in order to find a talent in yourself, or save a friend, or just make sure that at least someone really loves you, then you have to try yourself. And no magic will help here.
