Selamsiz (wich means 'no greeting') is a small town in Anatolia. The town has a lot of problems but noone from governments come and see the town. One day the mayor learns that the prime minister will come to the city. They, now, have a chance to solve their problems. However, they think that they should have a band to greet the prime minister.

Raziye and Kanber Hoca are siblings. Raziye is in love with Kamil, who lives in the same village, while Kanber is in love with Şerife. Kamil's mother Hatice does not approve of Raziye and Kamil's relationship, so she marries Kamil to Kanber's girlfriend Şerife. Raziye and Kanber cannot accept that their loved ones have been married off to each other, so they curse the entire village. To ensure that the curse continues, they make a deal with the Kulyas Jinns. However, Kamil and Raziye have already been together. Some time later, Kamil has daughters from both Şerife and Raziye. One night, Raziye swaps her daughter with the other girl to protect her. The swapped baby dies tragically. Şerife, believing it to be her own child, raises Raziye's baby.
The world champion archer, who comes from Moldova, one of the poorest countries in the Eastern Bloc, wants to compete on behalf of Turkey. To do so, she must be married to a Turkish man. The federation president intervenes and decides to arrange a formal marriage. For this purpose, a former wrestler is persuaded to be the groom. After the comical marriage, events will take a rather amusing turn. Zeki Alasya, who directed the film, once again appears on screen with Metin Akpınar, effectively responding to speculation that they are estranged.

Mavi Sürgün is a fictionalized account of one period of the life of a Turkish journalist who was condemned to exile for an article he wrote in 1925. He turned his punishment into a reward by creating a little paradise in what is today the holiday resort, Bodrum. In fact he is considered by some to be the first ecologist. The film concentrates on this latter aspect of his character and through flashbacks portrays the inner turmoil of a man who is trying to come to terms with his past. The slow pace is somewhat of a drawback, the flashbacks are often confusing and the protagonist is not always very convincing. But the photography of the country side is exceptional Kenan Ormanlar and the short appearance by a very theatrical Hanna Schygulla of Fassbinder fame adds a little spice to the drama.

One evening, Uncle Müşfik leaves home to attend a party with his friends, which leads to an adventure unlike anything the puppets have ever experienced before. Two thieves named Behçet and Riko break into the house, thinking that Müşfik is not home. However, Müşfik has entrusted the mansion to the puppets before leaving. The puppets begin to defend the mansion against Behçet and Riko. When Behçet and Riko see the living, walking, talking puppets, they are stunned. Thinking they can make a good profit from the puppets, they forget everything else and try to capture them. What they don't know is that the puppets are no easy prey.
