Best Friends follows the life of a group of friends at their high school ‘Spangalis College’. Inside and outside of school exciting and challenging experiences take place. Growing up is never easy; every character has its own, unique story of love, friendship, loneliness, sorrow, discovery. There is drama and joy in school, family, teachers, parents, divorce, bullying, and always dreams for the future.

At the opening of a butterfly exhibition, a mysterious woman approaches the rangers with a plea for help. A rare butterfly species in the rainforest is on the brink of extinction due to devastating wildfires. The rangers must locate the cocoons before they hatch, so the butterflies can be safely relocated. Once in South America, the mission turns out to be far more difficult than expected. The rangers leap from one adventure into the next: they have to prove themselves as tango dancers and football stars, brave wild rivers and towering mountains, and face off against bulls, crocodiles, piranhas, and venomous spiders. Along the way, they meet a monkey who falls head over heels in love with Moes — and turns out to be guarding a secret map that just might help the rangers complete their mission…

The rangers get a surprise visit from their fellow ranger Alwin, who has just returned after spending a year in India. But Alwin hasn’t come back without reason — he needs their help. In India, a herd of elephants has mysteriously disappeared. The rangers don’t hesitate for a moment and travel to India to help find them. Once there, it quickly becomes clear that the elephants have been kidnapped by ivory smugglers. The rangers decide to split into two groups: one heads deep into the jungle to track the elephants, while the other travels to Mumbai to follow the smugglers' trail. Teacher Jochem sticks to the plan he has drawn up for the week-long study trip - in teams, the students will complete various assignments, the highlight of which will be a survival drop at the end of the week. Jochem tries to motivate the students, but has a hard time of it. Their tangled web of contradictory interests is not good for harmonious cooperation. Jochem has been over-optimistic in this respect and very soon the students' own agendas are revealed.
