Hotel Sunrise is a busy place. Male guests are, almost without an exception, in love with Mária, the directress of the hotel.

Out of the three-part burlesque, the only surviving one is the one called Pufi would buy a pair of shoes, with Hungarian inserts. The film is shot on a real-life location, in a Budapest shoe shop, and it portrays the mutual efforts of a puny sales assistant and Pufi, the bladder-of-lard customer, to find him a suitable pair of shoes. The story takes place in a small village manor-house off Vásárosladány. Sándor leads a quiet life with his wife, son and the now poor relatives of his wife, one which is characterized by the monotony of rural boredom. The arrival of another poor relative, Kitty, a young girl brought up in America, whose way of thinking reflects modern times, puts an end to this overwhelming monotony.

Two actors and a theater assistant live in modest circumstances in a rented apartment in Budapest. The two men constantly play cards with each other in symbolic stakes, and Béla Bognár's wife, Piri, runs the household. However, the atmosphere is good, and they quote dialogues appropriate to the given situation from the texts of their roles.
