When Juan, a young gasoline smuggler, is forced to work for a mysterious organization in the desert bordering Colombia and Venezuela, his girlfriend Diana embarks on a journey to uncover the secrets that inhabit this no-man’s-land.
Amid a political crisis, on the border between Colombia and Venezuela, an Andean woman, her husband, and brother live on looting travelers. However fate pushes her to the brink of illusion and getting lost in mysterious dreams.
Elías is a young fisherman who tries to persuade his wife Margot to leave the stilt village where they live in the middle of the swamp. When she refuses, the fisherman leaves the village in search of a better future, but a subversive group drives the villagers out by committing a massacre there. Upon hearing the news, Elías returns and goes mad, clinging to memories of his missing wife, but the power of music and his tenacity will restore hope to the place.
After his wife's death, a vallenato singer from Majagual, Sucre, decides to quit music and return his allegedly cursed accordion to his master. He is joined by Fermín Morales, a teenage boy who admires him and wishes to follow his footsteps. Together, they start a journey throughout several towns in Northern Colombia to Taroa, in La Guajira desert, where the singer's master supposedly lives.
