Two sisters, Nova Bordelon and Charley Bordelon, with her teenage son Micah moves to the heart of Louisiana to claim an inheritance from her recently departed father - an 800-acre sugarcane farm.

Rain is a spirited 14-year old who, after the death of her grandmother, seeks out her estranged mother in the big city of Nassau. Her dreams of a loving reconciliation are quickly shattered when she meets Glory, a scarred, proud, guarded woman bearing no resemblance to the mother she had hoped for.

Set against the backdrop of Trinidad and Tobago’s mystical Carnival, a gifted and struggling young man becomes the object of intrigue for an older, well-meaning businessman until their worlds collide.
