Biography

Better known by his air name Opie, is an American radio personality and podcast host. He is best known as the former co-host of the Opie and Anthony radio show that aired from 1995 until 2014 with Anthony Cumia, as well as comedian Jim Norton beginning in 2001. Following Cumia's firing from SiriusXM in July 2014, Hughes and Norton stayed on as co-hosts of Opie with Jim Norton. In October 2016, Hughes became the host of his own show, The Opie Radio Show, which lasted until his firing, for filming an employee in the men's room as he used the toilet, on July 7, 2017. On May 8, 2018, Hughes launched his new podcast, The Opie Radio Podcast on the Westwood One network. In June 2019, Westwood One terminated the relationship, but the podcast continued.

Shot in 2004, the Roast of Jim Norton was held at the world-famous Caroline's Comedy Club in New York, NY. It features some of the greatest comics of the New York scene, and is part of comedy history. Produced by Comedy Anatomy's own Masavia Greer, along with Yumi Akiyama, the Roast of Jim Norton was hosted by Rich Vos, and featured comedians Jim Florentine, Vanessa Hollingshead, Nick DiPaolo, Greg Giraldo, Laurie Kilmartin, Colin Quinn, Rev. Bob Levy, Ross Bennett, Ben Bailey, Opie & Anthony, the late Patrice O’Neal and Greg Giraldo (rest in peace), and of course, guest of honor Jim Norton.
