J.J. Jamieson

Writing

Biography

Producer, writer, executive and show-creator, J.J. Jamieson is a veteran of multiple TV networks, studios, and independent production. Currently consulting for Lifetime's TV movie division, Jamieson recently served as Head of Scripted for Scripps National Networks, where he ran all original scripted programming... with an unprecedented 100% success record. For Bounce, his victories included the hit dramedies JOHNSON and FINDING HAPPY, as well as the sitcom ACT YOUR AGE, Bounce’s most successful series ever. He personally wrote two hit holiday romcoms for Bounce: MARRY ME THIS CHRISTMAS and GREYSON FAMILY CHRISTMAS, which he also produced. GREYSON FAMILY CHRISTMAS became Bounce’s highest-rated TV movie to date, and was ranked in the top-three best holiday films of 2019 out of more than 200 programs on 34 networks... for 1/2 to 1/6 the cost of rival productions. Jamieson also developed, greenlit and supervised additional telefilms for Bounce (genres: drama, broad comedy, thriller, holiday), each one rating higher than the last. As division chief at Scripps, J.J. created a brand-specific franchise of TV Movies for Ion—Christmas romcoms wrapped around a central crime story—and launched them under his marketing campaign “Ion this Christmas: It’s the most wonderful crime of the year!” These films were all massive ratings hits (besting all 52 competing networks with the sole exception of Hallmark) AND the most profitable programs in the history of the network. His movies were SO successful, in fact, that Hallmark immediately started imitating them. Before joining Scripps, Jamieson spent years working as a TV producer, writer and executive. He created/EP’d/wrote/co-wrote/re-wrote: TV movies for CBS, TBS, Lifetime and Hallmark (including CHRISTMAS AT GRACELAND, their 5th highest-rated movie ever); an unscripted series for MTV; a talk-show pilot for TBS; and a 2-hour documentary for Turner. As an executive, he ran a joint-venture of Lionsgate and Televisa as well as PODs at Warner Bros., Hamden, Fremantle and Fox TV Studios. Back under his own Triple J Media banner, he is currently writing series & movies and developing both scripted & unscripted projects. Jamieson began his career at NBC as a Page, worked in News, Late Night and Specials, then joined NBC’s TV Movie & Miniseries Department. Recruited into NBC’s management training program, he quickly rose through the ranks as a creative exec overseeing dozens of hit longform projects in every conceivable genre... and writing the original stories for four hit movies. He is a published essayist (his series of articles about raising triplets was published at MomReady.com), a journalist (for BRNTWD Magazine & MEDICALIFE Magazine), a produced songwriter, and has worked as a celebrated professor of Film & Television at Chapman University and at Columbia College. A native of Princeton, NJ, Jamieson graduated with Honors from Dartmouth College after attending the Lawrenceville School and studying “A” Levels at Marlborough College in Wilshire, UK. He lives in Santa Monica, CA, with his wife, producer & A+E Studio chief Tana Nugent Jamieson.
