On a special inner city street, the inhabitants—human and muppet—teach preschoolers basic educational and social concepts using comedy, cartoons, games, and songs.

Elmo learns fire safety from Firefighter Bill. This all comes about because he was scared after being in a fire at Mr. Hooper's Store on Sesame Street. Elmo visits Engine Company 58 Ladder Company 26 of the FDNY where he gets to see the firetruck, try on a helmet, and learn about firefighters.

Everyone on Sesame Street is preparing for Christmas: Bert and Ernie exchange gifts in a "The Gift of the Magi" fashion, Cookie Monster wants to get his most desired treat this year, and Big Bird worries when Oscar tells him that if Santa Claus can't fit down the chimney on Christmas Eve, nobody would get presents. Luckily for him, Grover and Kermit the Frog (along with some interviewed kids) decide to help with his investigation, but when Big Bird decides to take matters into his own hands, all of Sesame Street is thrown into a mad dash to find him.

Elmo's World: Opposites is a 2008 Sesame Street DVD featuring three complete, and previously unreleased, episodes of "Elmo's World". It also includes Opposite Stuff, which is played over the credits. This was the first Elmo's World video to have a non-Elmo's World segment.

Gina, Mike, Big Bird and the Kids host the Sesame Street Dance Along, where they dance and play Sesame Street songs that involve dancing. The DVD came with a CD Sampler that had songs from Kids Favorite Songs 2. Songs are "The Hokey Pokey", "Ta-Ra-Ra Boom-De-Ay" and "If You're Happy and You Know It."

Kermit is being awarded the Frog of the Year Award, presented by Grover. Grover first recites a long poem about frogs, which introduces various Kermit the Frog segments from Sesame Street, while being interrupted by the Three Little Pigs, who are there because Kermit introduced them twice on Sesame Street News.

Millions of miles away, on a giant Matzah Ball in outer space, lives a family of funny, furry aliens who just happen to be Jewish. Most Jewish traditions on Planet Matzah Ball have been lost. One starry night, just before Pasover, an Intergalactic Passover Guide Book comes crashing down on Planet Matzah Ball. The curious Jewish aliens who discover it decide to follow its instructions and have a Seder of their own! But there's a problem: they need someone to lead the Seder who will make sure that the most important parts of the Passover story are told. Oogy volunteers to find a leader and travels to Planet Earth on his spaceship in search of one. Crash landing in Cleveland, Ohio, right in the middle of the Rosenberg family Seder, he learns everything about Passover. But when it's time to return to Planet Matzah Ball Oogy realizes that he hasn't accomplished his mission, for he still hasn't found a leader for his seder - or has he?
