The Golden Palace begins where The Golden Girls had ended, in the quartet's now-sold Miami house. With Dorothy Zbornak having married and left in the previous series finale, the three remaining cast members (Dorothy's mother, Sophia Petrillo, Rose Nylund, and Blanche Devereaux) decide to invest in a Miami hotel that is up for sale. The hotel, however, is revealed to have been stripped of all of its personnel in an effort to appear more profitable, leaving only two employees: Roland Wilson, the hotel's manager, and Chuy Castillos, the hotel's chef. This requires the women to perform all the tasks of the hotel's staff.

Contestants collect spins by answering trivia questions and then use the spins on an 18-space game board to win cash and prizes. The person who amass the most in cash and prizes at the end of the game wins.

Hit Man is an American television game show that ran from January 3 to April 1, 1983, on NBC. Peter Tomarken hosted this Jay Wolpert production in association with Metromedia Video Productions, while Rod Roddy was the announcer.

The Price is Right $1,000,000 Spectacular is a special primetime version of The Price is Right where in addition to the usual (contestants try to know their prices to win big prizes), they also try to win $1,000,000. Like the other primetime shows from 1986 and 2002, the prizes were higher in value than that of the daytime show. The winning graphics from this primetime special were very different than the ones used on the daytime show. Under Bob Barker's tenure, no contestant was able to win both showcases.

Battlestars is an American game show that aired for two separate runs on NBC during the early 1980s. The show's first run aired from October 26, 1981 to April 23, 1982. An updated version–titled The New Battlestars–ran for 13 weeks, from April 4 to July 1, 1983. Battlestars was produced by Merrill Heatter Productions, Heatter's first show produced without Bob Quigley. The host was Alex Trebek and the announcers were Rod Roddy and Charlie Tuna.
