The chairman of the collective farm, understanding the mood of the old man, preserves his vineyard. And again the old man prunes the vine. The work rejuvenated him, filled him with new vitality. He no longer shuns people, but takes an active part in their lives and affairs. He realized that a person should not live in isolation from people, that his immortality lies in the good deeds that remain after him.
