7 Hati follows the story of seven women who are unknowingly interconnected. The lead character, Kartini (Jajang C. A confrontation ensues but Purwanti lets Sari decide. The girl eventually chooses to stay with her biological mother. But as time goes by, Sari feels uncomfortable with the new atmosphere and finally returns to her aunt’s home.

There is another character, a journalist, who comes in and out of the film, and functions as a commentator and witness of their lives. The dialogue veers on philosophical messages as director, Slamet Rahardjo, tries to represent both the lower and upper classes, mixing his narrative style with realism.

Dono and housemates immediately capture him by feeding him drugged onde-onde cakes. After the police officer has passed out, a man in a police uniform shows up, saying that he has been assigned to help them catch the robber. It turns out that this man is actually the thief, who intends to wreak revenge on Dono and friends for their attempt to capture him.
