The film tells a story about the latest musical revolution in recent history – the early days of the rave scene and the golden age of techno culture. International political changes in the mid-80s and early 90s, including the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Union, in a short period of time allowed this cultural phenomenon to become a mass movement which was almost completely independent from the global corporations and which did not fight with the system but created its own system.

In September 3, 1997, an art project - the annual exhibition of the Soros Center for Contepmporary Arts-Riga was opened. The centre - piece of the event was the experimental opera "Rolstein on the beach", that was shown in Dailes theatre. The music and libretto of the opera was written by Hardijs Ledins and Kaspars Rolsteins, and popular musicians, actors and well - known public persons took part in the opera.

"In the world of the fly," says biologist Uexkull, "we find only fly things. In the world of the sea urchin we find only sea urchin things." This is the Colonel’s story and here you will find only Colonel things.

Four friends—Ēriks, Muļķis, Jogurts and Džindža—set off on a road trip to Tukums, where they encounter a cast of odd characters (the Madman, the Bride, a hunter, even a King). Along the way they inadvertently become chicken thieves, crash a TV show taping and tumble into a series of increasingly absurd adventures.

A playful portrayal of a merry royal couple who set off on a secret journey without subjects in order to enjoy simple human freedom at least a little. But the world is so full of various coincidences - Leopards growl in the trees, hungry crocodiles swim, snakes, monkeys and other surprises also appear that the King and Queen have to meet.

How did Hardijs Lediņš' unique personality develop? This TV documentary explores how, during the bleakest period of Soviet stagnation, when Western contemporary art trends and ideas were carefully hidden behind the Iron Curtain, Ledins' colorful, avant-garde and surreal ideas could emerge and be realized.

Romantic portrayals as mystical characters-white rhinos-on a hot African night, ringing golden bells, create a rain of stars that roll over the Earth inspiring all living beings. When the miracle work is done, they themselves plunge into the sea of emerald green thistles and turn into orchids.
