In 1980s Bacolod City, a young man aspires to continue the family legacy by winning an inter-city pastry competition with the help of his feuding grandfather and grandmother.

On a particularly nondescript weekend afternoon, Edison must deal with his exasperated mother, who is bearing down on him like a force of nature; the looming deadline of a paper on the philosophical writings of Immanuel Kant; and a persistent, insidious force that aims to destroy the tranquility of his existence.

Anson witnesses the life and dreams of his father hoping one day he could do the same. Just like many people who live in the same neighborhood, he and his family share an adventure of a lifetime at the heart of downtown Bacolod City.

In 1982, a fourteen-year-old movie fanatic from an underprivileged family in the Municipality of Manapla coincidentally witnesses the production shoot of Oro, Plata, Mata in his hometown. Full of determination he approaches the director, Peque Gallaga, in the hopes of landing a job that would help in providing for his family, and feed his passion.
