Gerhana is a soap opera that aired on RCTI from 8 January 1999 to 14 February 2003, starring Pierre Rolland, Dina Lorenza, Peggy Melati Sukma, and Ruhut Sitompul.

It tells the story of Jelita, a girl who was stranded on a remote island as a child after a plane crash. She grows up among an isolated tribe, unaware of her origins. When a group of anthropologists arrives to study the island, Jelita reunites with her father, who turns out to be alive. However, conflicts with treasure hunters and the local tribe make their journey full of danger.

After Bayukusuma is falsely accused of committing adultery, his village is hit by a series of natural disasters. Bayukusuma is blamed and throw over a cliff. He survives and then they bury him in the sand. After awhile, he has no other option than to become the disciple of the evil Galunggung Genie. He's promptly possessed by the genie, who then goes to the village and gets revenge.

Gunawan moves his troubled family (including an adulterous wife) into a new Dutch home that comes complete with a hidden treasure and ghosts.

Dyah, the daughter of a cultural attaché, sympathises with him, especially when she finds out that he visits the daughter of Astri, the prostitute, in the orphanage.

Anton and his wife Rita rent a beautiful house that belongs to Dudung Sasmita, whose face was scarred in an accident at the pharmaceutical laboratory where he works. Little do they know, but Dudung also murdered his wife after she cheated on him and has hidden her body inside the wall of the house. Now her spirit haunts the place and terrorizes Rita.

Badrowi disturbs a married woman he's in love with on her wedding night and kills her husband. He's then severely beaten by villagers and his body is thrown into a ravine. There, he gains supernatural powers from a spider and then starts terrorizing the village.

Lestari stops teaching when she marries Rama who has returned from abroad. Lestari, who is an only child and an orphan, is infertile. One day she meets Shinta, her favorite student who cannot stand living with her stepmother, especially since her father, a drunken truck driver, died in an accident. Hetty searches for her father, Syachrin Mulyadi, who left a long time ago to find fortune. She takes with her a necklace that was given by Syachrin to her late mother. Syachrin has become a producer and is making a film titled “Assoy”. During a birthday party of Mrs. Lies, Hetty sings a song that was composed specially by Syachrin for his wife, and this helps them to meet. The film uses songs, top singers, and a touching story, to repeat the successful formula that started with the film Terang Boelan. The singers Elvy Sukaesih, Lies Saodah, and Mansjur are popular Dangdut singers of the time, while Hetty Koes Endang was a rising pop singer. The appearance of the comedy Surya Group was designed as an added attraction, though it becomes more of a distraction.

Four stories unfold in Jakarta, a big city that feels cold and dehumanizing. Life there strips away meaning, turning people into soulless zombies. Various funny events occur, since the hotel maids are more educated, and Badrun finally realises his wrong attitude towards the maids.

A naive village girl, Ani (Ayu Azhari), takes a job in a karaoke club in the city after meeting Susana (Yurike Prastica). Actually, Ani’s main reason for taking the job in the city is the hope that she will somehow meet up with Rudy (James Sahertian), a childhood friend. At the karaoke club, Ani attracts unwanted affections from the owner, Robert (Torro Margens). Ani escapes this dilemma when she does, finally, find Rudy. Together, they set up a small business selling ready-made clothes. Robert refuses to give up. He sends some men to beat up Rudy, and even assigns Susana to try to break up Rudy and Ani. Susana is successful. Ani then goes to work with Prasetyo (Willy Dozan), whom she met when she was in the garment business. The relationship between Ani and Prasetyo becomes serious, and they marry. However, Rudy, who is living with Susana, attempts to blackmail Ani with his knowledge of her past involvement with the karaoke club.

Richard accepts a bet that he can't find a companion to a friend's wedding, not knowing the dating app he's using includes a 45-day contract.

A group of civilians share a bus ride to Sampar, a town full of natural resources. It is heavily guarded by the state army who is fighting against the rebel militias, who want freedom over their homeland.

Anglingdarma (Baron Hermanto), the ruler of his homeland, acquires the magical ability to understand the language of animals, but is forbidden to share the secret of how to do this with anyone. Unfortunately, one night, when Anglingdarma is making love with his wife, he overhears some humorous remarks being made by two house lizards in the room, and bursts out laughing. His wife becomes very angry, and after Anglingdarma explains what happened, his wife demands that he teach her how to do the same thing. Anglingdarma refuses to reveal the secret. His wife, who believes that he does not love her anymore, decides to burn herself to death.

A playboy's encounter with a woman in the National Library's elevator gets complicated. His invitation to the next meeting was accepted with the riddle she gave him. The answer to the riddle is the time and place of their next meeting.

A birthday celebration in an empty villa spirals down to the worst after the death of the birthday girl, Demona.

When Kiki and her friends are on a holiday in the village, they play the jelangkung inside an old building. Suddenly the jelangkung doll stirs and screams that her name is Yanti and that her boyfriend killed her when he made her pregnant. Terrified, they all flee the old building and Kiki strays into a cemetery. Kiki finds a necklace, and wears it. Later in Jakarta, Kiki falls ill, and deliriously mentions Yanti’s name. As the best doctors fail to cure her, they turn to a shaman for help. Kiki is taken back to the cemetery in the village. After returning the necklace, Yanti’s spirit possesses the shaman. When the necklace is passed to Benny, Kiki's friend, he is also possessed by Yanti’s spirit.

After being fired from his job for embezzling, Supandi moves to a remote village with his wife Lia and begins working as a well digger. On one of his jobs he finds the decapitated head of a man who was murdered by some martial arts students. The head possesses him and uses him to get revenge.
