The 1980s. Kārlis did his military service in Afghanistan and is now confined to a wheelchair. Before he left, he had fallen in love with the teacher Judīte, but she has now married a rich man...and poses nude for Kārlis' neighbour, the cynical photographer Rūdofs. Soon Rūdolfs is found dead, and Kārlis admits to having murdered him. But investigator Konrāds suspects that Kārlis is incriminating himself.
Major Ģirts Randers arrives to visit his childhood friend Juris, who repeatedly tries to tell him something important but never finds the right moment. During a gathering at Juris’s home, he goes to the cellar to fetch a bottle of raspberry wine and never returns. When his wife Rasma goes looking for him, she discovers his body. Dismissing the possibility of an accident, Ģirts begins investigating the murder, convinced that the killer is among the guests gathered around the table.

Arvīds Krievs had planned to make a film about the singer for a few years, so he filmed the singer's life extensively.

Galiņi was a deserted corner of Madliena, a former forestry house, when the Strazdiņi family arrived here, and in 15 years Galiņi has been turned into an exemplary vegetable farm. Three generations of the Strazdiņi family live and work here, but the film is about the youngest of them - Kristaps, Elīna, Raits and Mārtiņš, who are aged between 4 and 11. They live alongside their parents and grandparents in their daily lives in winter, spring, summer and autumn. They learn to work, think, and understand, because work is the foundation of their lives, so that they don't have to go to foreign lands in search of happiness...
