Too bad for the presidential hopes of banker T.K. Blair; his party feels he has too little flair for savoir faire. But at a medicine show, the party bosses find Blair's double: huckster Doc Varney. Of course, they scheme to make Varney T.K.'s public spokesman; at first, he even fools Blair's girlfriend Felicia, providing a romantic complication. But as election eve approaches, the conspirators face the problem of what to do with Varney...who has difficult decisions of his own to make.
Escaped convicts Jack and Judy stumble upon an airstrip on the Western ranch of arrogant business tycoon Gerald Axton. Taking Axton and his secretary hostage, the convicts inadvertently cause the crash-landing of a small plane ferrying Axton's political adversary, Gov. Sam Pruden, and a nosy reporter. As the long night unfolds, each person's rivalries and weaknesses are prodded by the others.
Jane Brower wants nothing more than to leave behind her ranch life in the West and go East. When she happens upon a party in the private railroad car of wealthy August Van Dorn, Jane gets the idea to finance her trip by kidnapping his son, Donald, for ransom. While Jane is negotiating with the senior Van Dorn, his son is kidnapped by two bandits. Donald soon escapes and seeks out Jane, with whom he has fallen in love. After Donald rescues Janes from the bandits, they decide to marry and spend their honeymoon in New York City.
A butler goes on vacation, where he is wrongly taken to be a wealthy man.
After eluding authorities, Jaca Javalie goes to the home of wealthy Theodore Banning, where he professes to be a man of magic who learned his skills in India. He demonstrates his ability by bringing peace to the Banning home. In actuality, he plans to rob Banning's private vault. When he tries to commit the robbery, he is stopped by a guest who promises to say nothing in exchange for a portion of the loot. Javalie makes another attempt to break into the vault, but the same power that he had exerted over the Banning family compels him to stop. He confesses what he had planned to do and wins the hand of Banning's daughter Nanette. A lost film.
