Abstract film made from the video capture of a live animation performance presented in Vienna on May 30th 2011 at the Stadtkirche with Andrea Martignoni in the context of the Vienna Independent Shorts Festival. It was a double performance where parts engraved directly on ± 16mm black film are inserted on a background made with the help of a live mixing software. The film is based, on the one hand, on a process of condensation and densification of the original footage of the performance that serves as a departure for interventions that intensify its energetic potentialities.

A child's daydream during a school lesson is abruptly interrupted by the teacher. The instructor threatens to cut off the young pupil's ear to encourage concentration and prevent further escapes into the realms of imagination.

Freeze frame: the most absurd technique since the invention of the moving image. Through an elaborate process of duplicating the same image over and over again, it creates the illusion of stillness. In this stop-motion film, identical figures try to perform the hopeless task of preserving blocks of ice, like archivists. The repetitive movements reanimate the animals captured inside the blocks.

The artist returns to his studio, at night. Fantasies, anxieties, and memories overlap and come to life, until dawn, when the world resumes its daily routine.
