Biography
Actress Dana Sedláková comes from Šumperk, in northern Moravia she also had her artistic beginnings. She studied acting at the State Conservatory in Ostrava, where she also received her first engagement, and in 1990-1994 she was a member of the ensemble of the Petr Bezruč Theater. She played one of the main roles in the musical Like Someone Hot ?, for example, and in Ostrava she also gained her first experience of acting on television (DIGITAL TIME, 1991). For three seasons she moved to the F. X. Šalda Theater in Liberec (1994-1997), where she found employment again in musicals (Cabaret).

Robert works for a travel agency and helps to arrange scenes from the everyday lives of "ordinary" Czech families as an attraction for Japanese tourists. He also works as a kind of matchmaker and occasionally helps to put together some of his friends. He helps to separate his friend Hanka from Peter, an announcer for an independent radio station who tries to capture "real" life by recording the moments from "reality" and playing them over the air. Vesna, came to Prague from Macedonia because it is according to her the best place for UFOs to land, but her real reason for coming is somewhat different... Hanka is followed by the crazy Ondrej, until then a respected brain surgeon, and married with two kids. Through him she meets Jacob, who uses copious amounts of weed in order to be constructive in this gloomy world. On the other hand, this destroys his short-term memory - and he forgets that he already has a girlfriend...

Lovers & Murderers is about the ongoing war between those who have and those who want to have what the others have. The have-nots see themselves as poor victims trying to get for themselves what is justly theirs. But when the have-nots become haves, they continue to see themselves as victims of the hordes baying for what is justly theirs, and they have neither the energy nor the security to enjoy what they have obtained. The movie takes place in the microcosm of a small apartment building. The principal goal of the young people who share rooms in the building is to move into their own room and, some day, a real apartment. They scheme to get what they're after: form short-lived alliances, petition, frighten, marry, become pregnant, anything that might work. Lovers & Murderers presents Páral's vision of mankind caught in a cyclical process in which ideology pales before the pettiness, cruelty, and self-justification of human nature.

Kamila Bendová is a successful woman. She is fully fulfilled in her work and could be described as a workaholic. She is 39 years old and lives alone, except for occasional meetings with her boyfriend Igor. After a disagreement with him, she allows her friend Irena to persuade her to go on a weekend trip to Vienna. However, there is one problem on the way - a stop in South Moravia and a meeting with Laďa Bednařík, a fifty-year-old veterinarian who has been treated for alcoholism three times.
