Behind the dark, sensuous and almost hallucinatory images, a grim story is smouldering about a school teacher and social activist, who after a questionable trial was convicted for killing four police officers in a Mexican province.

In the period between 1988 and 1989, a well known radio reporter in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, killed a girl of four years, shocking the town folks. Exergo is the experimental exploration of such events, based on real police archives.

In the heart of Tijuana, the Cine Libertad, the city’s first neighborhood cinema, reopens after 53 years of abandonment. Originally operating from 1954 to 1964, it becomes a focal point for the local community, where former workers and patrons unite to share their memories. Through personal photographs and newspaper clippings, they recount the microhistory of both the cinema and Colonia Libertad, illuminating the vibrant culture and urban movements that shaped their lives in this border town.

How Alejandro, an artisan, and Kiara, his seven-year-old daughter, live in a small rented room in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Mexico.
