The old Victor Branzell has a grandson, Alf, who is in love with a clerk in a glove shop, Lilian Lind. After a visit to the opera, Mr. Vinner invites his wife to supper at home. She gets the urge to eat crayfish. Despite it being late at night, Mr. Vinner sets out to try to satisfy her whim.

The divorce lawyer Vinner manages the house, and his wife manages the law firm.
