The show features Lucas Silva e Silva, a boy who earns a recorder from his paternal grandfather, Orlando, at the age of 10. Amid the typical problems of moving from childhood to adolescence, Lucas creates stories on the tape recorder from how he would like things to be. He lives at his grandfather's house with his parents, Rogerio, a teacher who works out for three jobs and Carolina, who works in a boutique; the older sister, Juliana; and maid Rosa, who dates Marcelo and talks to broadcaster Ney Nunes on her radio.

After the collapse of their relationships with other people, Maria and Paulo embark in an intense relationship in order to shield themselves from loneliness.

Otavio is an idealistic union leader trying to organize workers at a factory to resist the company's exploitative practices. His son, Tião, one of the employees, is more of a realist and doesn't want to risk losing his job by striking. This clash of perspectives puts the father and son at odds. Fortunately, Tião's mother, Romana, is on hand to act as a moderator between the two opinionated men.

In the 1930s, in the South of State of Bahia, Brazil, an adventurer with no name or history, who has already been shot seven times, gets involved in the battle for land and cacao plantations. His plan is to take the place of "Colonel" Santana, taking his wife and money. He starts a bloody conflict, in which many simple people and landowners die.

A group of friends in Sao Paulo see each other regularly in different venues of this huge metropolis, and act as their own de-facto family. They are similar in many ways, all upper middle class professionals between 28 and 32 years of age, and very conscious of their psyche and lives. The diversity within the group however, is also remarkable. It's made up about half men and half women. The men are the most diverse, ranging from your average guy looking for love to an Afro-Brazilian womanizing rich playboy, to a conflicted homosexual, heir to a business empire. It is the friendship (Amizade) and bond between these people that the film exposes, and at the same time it explores the different personalities of this apparently homogeneous, but actually psychologically diverse group of Sao Paulo yuppies. They stick together "'til friendship should ever separate them"

With death getting near, a retired officer remembers the most important passages in his life and his participation in historical events in Brazil, such as the Lieutenants' Movement, and the 1964 coup.

Solano is often plagued by nightmares in which, during the Middle Ages, he is pursued by the hunter Faro, who intends to kill him. On discovering, in an antiquarian, a tapestry that represents a hunt and that reminds him of his dream, he tries to buy it, but the owner refuses to sell it.
