Hugo Writley, the son of an American shipping magnate, travels to Holland accompanied by his steward, Longway. On the night of their arrival they go to a cabaret, where they get into conversation with two men and their girlfriends who, at closing time, invite the Americans to their home for a few drinks. The hosts, however, turn out to be 'land-sharks' planning to strip the two inebriated Yankees of their cash.
After serving in the Royal Navy, Manus, Toon and Dries return to Amsterdam working-class quarter 'the Jordaan'. Back home, they find out things have changed while they were gone; Manus's girl Jans has been unfaithful to him, Toon's father now rejects him on account of his dissolute life and barmaid Auntie Piet has been cooking up a scheme to ruin Dries' relationship with his girl Greet.

Piet returns, and at last, Juultje and Piet marry, beginning a new life together.

Beautiful Amsterdam is a short promotional film from 1927 made by Alex Benno. In addition to the usual tourist images, this film (with English intertitles) also features many shots of the Amstel Hotel, which had commissioned the film. The Amstel Hotel was most likely trying to convince American tourists to book rooms at the hotel when they visited the Olympic Games, which in 1928 were held in Amsterdam.

After a drive through Amsterdam in a carriage, "Hadt-je-me-maar", dressed as a gentleman, takes his place as city-councillor in the Amsterdam Municipal Council, where he is warmly applauded by a group of female admirers led by his landlady, but cooly received by the city hall officials. Alas, this is only a dream, as the tramp realizes when he wakes up in his untidy bed in his lodging-house.
When his granddaughter is born, debt-ridden Colonel von Zwenken misses out on Aunt Roselaar's allowance of 20,000 guilders. When self-made businessman Pancras Duif decides to marry his much younger housekeeper, his entire family protests; eager to protect the family capital, sons Henk, Jan and Toon enlist a psychiatrist for help. The film is considered lost.

Raymond is a painter who is very successful in his career. One day, he walks into a saloon and his eyes fall on the beautiful Jennie. She poses for one of his paintings and later runs off with all his money. When they meet again, they fall head over heels in love and get married. She is forced by Apaches to steal from him again, but Jennie refuses. In revenge, they lock her up and go after Raymond themselves. They attack him and lock him up as a living mummy in a sarcophagus. He is eventually rescued and reunited with Jennie, while the Apaches themselves are locked up.
