Our hero is Umbi (an acronym for emissary of the bishop), sent by him to undertake an important investigation at Snæfell-glacier. In particular he is to look into the conduct and behavior of Jón Prímus, the old pastor at Snæfell. Fantastic rumors are rife: amongst other things it is said that a corpse is lodged in the glacier! Armed with his tape recorder and notebook, Umbi embarks upon his mission. He tries to question the weird locals, a weird lot, but gets evasive answers. Slowly he is dragged into a quagmire of strange happenings and his efforts to understand only make him confused. If at the beginning he is a chipper, a mere device, by the end of the story he is inextricably involved, a committed participant in the bizarre events.

Jónas, working in peace and quiet in an isolated summerhouse, hires a young girl, Sandra, to cook for and look after him, and complete an ideal situation for an Icelandic writer on the brink of an international breakthrough. The plan, however, does not turn out the way Jónas intended.

A men's choir decides to go to Sweden and Germany. Shortly before their departure the choir director, Max, dies and is mourned by the choir and especially by their accompanist Magga, whom he was in love with. In deference to Max's memory, they embark upon a mission of song and companionship, in order to adjust to their loss.

The widow has inherited half of the farm, and is in league with a businessman from the village, who wants to buy the farm. Her purpose is to get her in-laws to sell her their share, and she is prepared to use any means to gain her ends. But soon she finds herself threatened by unknown persons or forces in the menacing winter landscape, to the point where her life is at stake.

The twins Jon Oddur and Jon Bjarni are typical normotensive boy saddles. Sometimes, they have to be quite the most dangerous repeat and even naughty but filial innocence they easily melt everyone's heart. The Icelandic Shock-Station is a thoroughbred Icelandic comedy, where the Icelander's daily life and habits are elevated to the level of farcical confusion and where all the laws of common sense are reversed in travesty of themselves, while at the same time the opportunity is taken to satirize some of the features the scriptwriter feels are blemish on the otherwise smooth facade of the nation's character.

The film follows the brave attempts of two men to be the first Icelander to swim the English Channel, the Mount Everest of swimmers, their failures and eventually the success of one of them. Interwoven with the story of the amazing endurance of these two men, is the history of swimming in Iceland and in particular the long and hard struggle to re-introduce the skill after it had been almost totally lost to this seafaring nation. By the 19th century it is reckoned that in the whole of Iceland no more than 6 individuals of a population of 50.000, knew how to swim. With references to the ancient Icelandic sages, we learn through staged scenes how a local hero took on and defeated the Norwegian kin in a bout of the popular Viking sport of sea wrestling and how a mother fled after her husband was viciously killed, swimming to land with her two children.

Disa and Tommy are board by catching small fishes by the pier. They get a hold of a boat and head out to sea to catch a big one. But the fight with the big one turns out to be more than they can handle and soon they find themselves stranded on a reef. They on one reef and their boat on an other. The tie starts coming in and the fight with the big one is not over.
