Monarchists and Republicans confront themselves in Araruna, a small town in the interior of São Paulo, in 1886, two years before the promulgation of the Golden Law. Sinhá Moça's love story, daughter of Colonel Ferreira, Baron de Araruna, and a slave-boy, with the young Dr. Rodolfo, an active Republican abolitionist, faced with the difficulties of the campaign for the abolition of slaves. The two meet on the train, when Sinhá Moça, after completing her studies in the provincial capital, returns to Araruna. Like Rodolfo, she has abolitionist ideas and criticizes her father's attitudes, fighting for the defense of blacks. Sinhá Moça, together with Rodolfo and other abolitionists, invade the slave quarters at night and liberate the blacks, giving them to the abolitionist associations, which guide them towards freedom.
Colonel Epaminondas is a retrograde and authoritarian man, who commands and dismantles the region. He declares war on Pedro Galvão, his main rival, when he donates part of his land – purchased from the colonel – for the construction of a church and a school. The arrival of professor Juliana, right at the beginning of the plot, changes the lives of the residents of the small village. Juliana takes over the school and ends up arousing the interest of Fernando, Epaminondas' son. Oblivious to the fights that drive the story are Pituca (Patrà and Serelepe (Aires Pinto). The friendship between the two children, however, does not please the colonel, who is always fighting with his daughter. 'Meu Pedacinho de Chão' was co-produced and shown simultaneously by Globo and TV Cultura in São Paulo.

Silvia, a former prostitute from a country town, after winning the corner of Loto, buys the main hotel in her town and, in retaliation, turns it into a brothel. After successive confusions among the guests, all involved in excusable activities, she ends up killing her gigolo lover who always extorted money from her. The manager tells the police that he arrests everyone except Silvia, as she flees to Rio de Janeiro. For lack of evidence, she escapes later judgment and becomes a victorious owner of sauna and massage houses. Valdo, a sensationalist journalist, decides to do a story about her, putting her in evidence and arousing the interest of a trio of cheaters who try to sell her a business in bankruptcy. One of the men pretends to be a great businessman, having as a partner a sophisticated Frenchwoman...
