The three films were based on the books Vendetta, Cabal and Ratking.

Set in Rome, it is a spin-off of the series Distretto di Polizia, which aired on the same network from 2000 to 2012, reprising the character of Roberto Ardenzi, played by the protagonist Giorgio Tirabassi.
