Vandana's husband, Arun, gets killed in an air crash after they secretly get married but no one accepts their marriage. Thereafter, she is forced to put her child up for adoption and later work as his nanny to stay by his side.

Trouble ensues when an eccentric but simple-minded villager discovers he is the only living heir of a royal estate.

Bharat (Rajendra Kumar) is a patriotic young man for whom patritism does not stop anywhere. He comes to know of the tyrancy of the present ruler's Diwan (Ajit) and he and his colleagues (Soodesh Kumar, Rajendra Nath) rebel. They kidnap Princess Chitralekha (Waheeda Rehman) unknowingly, and call her Jwala. Meanwhile, Bharat's dad (Balraj Sahni) who is the Inspector General, does not approve of Bharat's rebellious nature and decides to arrest him on sight. Bharat's mom (Kamini Kaushal) is torn between the love for her husband and her son. Bharat determination against the Diwan is so strong that he decides to bomb-blast a railway train transporting the Diwan, knowingly that his own dad is also travelling on that train. Will Bharat break his mom's heart by killing his dad and the Diwan? Good acting scores by the entire caste make this movie worth watching. Lyrics by Indivar.

Dr. Ravi returns from abroad and takes up position as Chief Surgeon in a hospital. He then meets with Nurse Shanti, who lives an impoverished lifestyle with her ailing mother, and decides to perform surgery, but she passes away, and a guilt-ridden Ravi marries Shanti much to the chagrin of his mentor, Kaka, who had hoped that he would marry his daughter, Rajni. The couple then travel to Kashmir for their honey-moon, and then settle down to a harmonious relationship. Hoping to travel even more, their plans are interrupted by the hospital's head doctor, who wants Ravi to focus on cancer research. The couple drop all travel plans and immerse themselves in research so much so that Shanti herself becomes ill.

Shankar was a young lawyer in pursuit of making it big in the professional world. However, his world is turned upside down when he comes to know that his father, who he knew went missing, was in real life spending his lifetime in jail as he was incorrectly accused of murdering a lady named Hemangini. He meets Rita, a young and charming lady who assists him. They fall in love. Shankar faces a lot of roadblocks while trying to collect clues, most of them which were imposed by the actual murderer. However, he solves the mystery in the end and his father is thus released from prison.

Prabir goes to war where he meets his doppelganger, Rataneshwar, who eventually dies in combat. Prabir decides to visit Rataneshwar's family to inform them about his death but the family mistake him for Rataneshwar.

However, when he sees Karuna his world is turned upside down. Karuna is Shukla, Somnath’s long-lost wife. Circumstances had led her to become a puppet in the hands of the gangsters. However, she is to keep mum about the entire conspiracy, lest they kill her only daughter. Somnath gives assurance to Karuna to speak the truth. She does that and, in the end, the entire gangster network is caught. Karuna’s daughter is proved to be Somnath’s daughter. They get together again.

However, it is soon cleared and Ajay transfers his wealth to his brother. Arun and Bandana got married.
