An easy-going hussar officer successfully vies for the love of a millionaire's daughter.

István Pongrácz, lord of the castle of Nedec, is a strange man. He does not like his own time, so he imagines himself as a medieval lord of the castle. His surroundings also accept his whimsy, and in this way they give him a horse to ride. Like centuries before, he launches a campaign against the disobedient city of Banská Štiavnica. In their great embarrassment, the serious city fathers offer the haughty warlord a ‘hostage’: Apolka, the city’s orphan. Her presence changes Count Pongrácz, who grows fond of the beautiful and innocent creature. But Apolka’s heart belongs to another.

News spreads like wildfire through the streets of Lubló: the ghost of recently deceased Mihály Kaszperek has been seen emerging now and then around the town. He pays off his debts, seeks out his debtors, flirts with his widow, then before sunrise he gallops off seated back to front on his steed. However, it soon transpires that the gold he is using is fake. Naturally, a counterfeiting phantom quickly attracts the attention of the authorities as well. Detective Jakab Strang is given the task of arresting the wayward dearly departed.

Another winner from Hungarian director Ivan Szekely (aka S.K. Seeley and Steve Sekely), A Nosty fiu Esete Toth Marival was released in English-speaking regions as I Married for Love. Feri Noszty (Paul Javor) is a handsome but irresponsible Hussar officer who prefers a life of wine, women and song to his military responsibilities. Unwilling to bow to family pressure, Feri refuses to marry heiress Mary Toth (Eva Szorenyi) for her dowry alone. But Mary falls in love with the prideful Feri, and to win his affections she poses as her own poverty-stricken maid. Based on a novel by Kalman Mikszath, A Noszty Fiu Esete Toth Marival was filmed simultaneously in Hungarian- and German-language versions.

The chroniclers are diligently scribbling the history of life and deeds of the virtuous and wise King Matthias, who, in the meantime, sneaks out of the palace in disguise. Instead of attending a boring reception of the imperial deputies and papal legates, he pays his address to three pretty women from Szelistye.

The 16th century Kecskemét troubled by both the Kurutses and the Labancs would like a Bey from the Buda pasha to defend them in exchange for four beautiful girls, but only gets a caftan. It was a good deal, however. All Muslims fall on their knees when they see the magic caftan and fulfil its owner's wish.

The film evokes count Pongrácz, who, as late as the 19th century, managed to live a life, which reminds one of his medieval ancestor's values. He acts in defiance of the town by fighting his own battle against it, having been offended by the town.

Count János Buttler rushes home to his parents and his beloved for the school holidays. On the way, they stop at Baron Dőry's house, where János is deviously trapped. In the presence of false witnesses, he is forcibly married to Baron Dőry's pregnant daughter. The swearing priest is the father of the unborn child. Although Buttler, his family and friends do their utmost to have the marriage annulled, the Church and the court, fearing for his authority, will not allow it. John Buttler and his lover therefore choose another way to divorce.

Veronika, the niece of the parish priest of Glogova, came to the priesthood because of the death of her mother. While the priest was praying for a blessing in front of the cross in the field, a grey old man put an umbrella over the little girl. It is still believed in the village that St. Peter himself came to protect the little orphan from the rain. Years go by and Veronika grows up to be a beautiful girl, who falls in love with a law student from Pest, Gyuri Wibra. Interestingly enough, Gyuri - known to be the illegitimate son of the rich Gregorics - inherits only an umbrella from his father...

In the 1600s, Hungary is plundered by the Turks and the Laban. Kecskemét, the free royal city, is not exempt from this. Miska, the wily son of Lestyák, a master tailor, suggests to the town council that they should ask for a permanent beacon from Buda, thus protecting Kecskemét from the harassment of raiding troops. The town assembles its gift of jewellery, cloth and a beautiful girl, and Miska sets off for Buda. On the way, the young gypsy girl falls in love with Mishka, who elopes with her in a boy's dress. He can do this because instead of the bewitchment he hopes for, he is given only a fancy robe to protect the city. Little do they know at the time how much the robe is worth. Before its wearer, all true believers will crumble to dust and do his bidding.

The hero of the story that takes place at the beginning of the nineteenth century and recalls real historical personages is Akli Miklós, the court jester of Emperor Ferenc.

After his wife's death Gáthy Lörinc (in Serbian version: Mr. Wickfield) remarries and in secret he takes his son born from this second marriage to the same foster parents who take care his first son born from his first marriage and left without mother. Five years later, when both boys return home, his wife does not know which is her own child, and which is the child of the previous wife, so the husband's desire is fulfilled, his orphaned son doesn't have step-mother, because his wife loves both boys equally, as her sweet children.
